Manchester United once again linked with Adrien Rabiot

Free agent Adrien Rabiot (29) has once again been linked with a move to Manchester United, this time by the often reliable Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna. 

The French midfielder has still not signed for a club since his contract at Juventus expired in the summer. Erik Ten Hag is said to be a big admirer of the player and he has been a midfield option on the Red Devils list for quite some time. So will Manchester United sign Rabiot on a free transfer to bolster their midfield options? 

Previous reports suggested Rabiot (whose agent is his mother Veronique) was demanding a substantial salary (approx £250k) which Manchester United were ultimately not willing to pay. According to reports, it now seems that the club could be exploring a deal provided wage demands are lowered. 

Santi Aouna reported that “Manchester United have held discussions with Adrien Rabiot in recent days. United have a better relationship with the player’s agent because the salary demands have decreased.”

Whether anything materialises remains to be seen. This could just be ‘paper talk’ or agent led ‘noise’ to garner up interest for the player. Midfield has been a position many fans still believe needs strengthened even with the addition of Uruguay’s Manuel Ugarte on deadline day.
